creative thinking

I recently read a study that suggests that although our culture praises creative thinking and creative people, the opposite is actually true. Teachers do not usually reward out of the box thinking from their students. Also, standardized testing basically eliminates any creativity at all. When it comes to work, the same is true. Bosses tend to ignore creative thinking, going with "what already works." Example: Blockbuster could have owned Netflix. They didn't want to venture into the age of internet, comfortable with their dvd empire. Netflix is now doing quite well. Blockbuster is extinct.

It terms of history, creative innovation is only praised AFTER it has already been proven to work.

How does this relate to me?

It gives me hope that while things are not easy now, as long as I am around long enough to see something come from this life, the tide will turn.

The difference between a wasted life, and being praised for "going for it" is success.
